How can the Isle of Wight Christian Outreach help YOU?

We are here to help you! We are the Isle of Wight Christian Outreach Program (C.O.P.) and are a gathering of local churches, individuals and businesses working together to serve various community needs. C.O.P. is an all-volunteer non-profit group that provides free food, furniture, diapers, emergency assistance, dental assistance, and more to those in need living in Isle of Wight County. Our Mission Statement is: “To help the poor, needy, and sick of Isle of Wight County. Since 1991, the 100% volunteer organization has dedicated itself to an ever-increasing level of service to those who need us most.” Meeting these needs is accomplished by generous donations, yearly fundraising events and grants.

We provide: Food, Diapers, Children’s Books (Food for Thought Literacy Program), Emergency Assistance, Dental Assistance, Furniture, Home Repair, Linens, and Housewares.

Food Assistance: clients can pick up one allotment of food per household per month from our facility

Available Foods Include: Non-Perishable items such as soups, canned meat, spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, ravioli, etc. and Perishable items such as fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy and meat.

Furniture Assistance: Clients can request items such as sofas, chairs, kitchen/dining tables and chairs, mattresses, end tables, dressers, washers/dryers, electric stoves, refrigerators, and other essential items. When we receive a donation we will call the client. Please note that we do not take the following so will never have these items: king sized mattresses, t.v.’s, entertainment centers, large computer monitors, hospital beds, or gas appliances.

Diaper Assistance takes place on Mondays from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. We distribute both baby diapers/pullups and adult pullups, plus wipes, cribs, and miscellaneous baby items.

Dental Assistance provides funding for emergency dentistry.

Food for Thought (books) – Our volunteers are on hand every Monday, Wednesday and Friday distributing books to clients for all ages, children through adult

Home Repair – Please call IOW Social Services at 757-365-0880 to fill out a service application. They will reach out to us with details of the job and we will send out a team to do the job if it’s within our abilities

Housewares/Linens – We have everything from sheets, towels, blankets, comforters, dishes, glasses, utensils, small appliances, casserole dishes, pots/pans, and other miscellaneous items. Ask, and if we have it, it’s yours!

Emergency Assistance provides help for utility bills, rent and other emergent situations.
