About the Isle of Wight Christian Outreach Program (C.O.P.)

           The Isle of Wight Christian Outreach Program (C.O.P.) is a gathering of local churches, individuals and businesses working together to serve various community needs. C.O.P. is an all-volunteer non-profit group that provides free food, furniture, diapers, children’s books, emergency assistance, dental assistance, and more to those in need living in our county. Our Mission Statement is: β€œTo help the poor, needy, and sick of Isle of Wight County. Since 1991, the 100% volunteer organization has dedicated itself to an ever-increasing level of service to those who need us most.” Meeting these needs  is accomplished by generous donations, grants and yearly fundraising events.

          C.O.P meets many needs for families in Isle of Wight County and your donations make that possible. Read more about ways to give here. Your financial donations, diaper donations, food donations, children’s books and furniture donations are greatly needed. 

Financial Donations

          Your Financial Donations are used for meeting all types of needs in Isle of Wight County to include providing food, diapers, children’s books, utility bill assistance, dental assistance, and much more. You can now make monetary donations directly to C.O.P. here. Thank you for your support. 

Food Donations

          Your food donations do so much to help feed the hungry in our county. We are looking for both perishable and non-perishable items. Contact us at food@iowcop.net for assistance.

          Non-Perishable items include: soups, canned meat, spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, ravioli, etc.
          Perishable donation guidelines: clean and fresh fruits and vegetables are accepted. Other perishable items must have nutrition information labels

Furniture & Housewares Donations

          The Isle of Wight Christian Outreach Program helps over 600 families a month. One of the many ways we help is by providing furniture, appliances, and household items. This is only possible through your generous donations. Contact us at furniture@iowcop.net or 757-356-9267 (select option 3) if you have a furniture donation.

          Wanted: Working refrigerators, washers/dryers, and electric stoves. The following gently used furniture items CAN be donated:  sofas, living room chairs/recliners, end tables, coffee tables, beds/frames (all sizes except king), dressers, bedside tables, kitchen or dining room tables and chairs (no china cabinets), desks, refrigerators, washers, and dryers
dressers, furniture, mattresses (in good condition), linens, portable fans or heaters.  We are always looking for able bodied workers to help us move and pick up furniture.  Sign up here to volunteer
          Not Accepted: king sized mattresses, t.v.’s, entertainment centers, large computer monitors, hospital beds, gas appliances.

Diaper Donations at C.O.P.

  • Diapers of all sizes are always needed
  • Diaper sizes 5 and 6 are always needed the most
  • The least expensive place to purchase diapers seems to be Walmart
  • Adult diapers are also accepted
  • Baby wipes are always welcome too
  • Diapers are given to those in need on Mondays from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
